MeDay does not require an account. Entry text, photos, and health data are not sent to the developer or third-party analytics tools. Your own entries can sync between your devices through iCloud. The app collects the usage and diagnostic data described below to understand feature use, retention and purchases, and to fix crashes.

What MeDay reads

System data is accessed only within the permissions you allow. WeRead is an optional connection that you configure yourself.

Health

With your permission, MeDay reads sleep and sleep stages, steps, workouts and routes, active energy, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, cardio fitness, time in daylight, and state of mind to show your daily activity. If you separately allow write access, feelings you record in MeDay can be saved to Apple Health.

Health data is not stored in MeDay’s private iCloud database or sent as analytics events. It is not used for advertising, marketing, or third-party usage analytics. Apple Health’s own sync is controlled by your system settings and Apple’s service policies.

Location

MeDay accesses location while you use the app to request weather from Apple WeatherKit. The city and coordinates needed for weather may be cached locally; you can also choose a city manually. These coordinates and places in your entries are not sent to analytics tools. The analytics provider may derive a general country, region, or city from network IP information, independently of device location permission.

Reminders

With permission, MeDay reads incomplete and completed reminders and shows them on the relevant day. When you choose to, you can create, edit, or complete reminders. The Reminders app manages this data; reminder text is not included in analytics.

Music

MeDay reads your listening history to show the albums, playlists, and stations you played each day. It doesn't read your account information or play anything.

WeRead

If you enter your own API Key, MeDay uses it to request your bookshelf, reading time, highlights, and thoughts directly from WeRead. The key is stored in this device’s Keychain, is not synced to iCloud, and is used only to authenticate direct requests to WeRead. It is not sent to the developer or analytics tools. You can delete it in Settings at any time. MeDay is not affiliated with or a partner of WeRead.

Camera and Photos

Photos in entries are stored in the app and can sync with entries through iCloud. When you take a photo and save an entry, or choose to save a shared image, MeDay can save images to Photos after receiving permission to add them.

iCloud sync

If you turn on sync, MeDay uses your own private iCloud database to sync between your devices. This service is provided by Apple, the data belongs to your iCloud account, and the developer has no access to it.

What syncs:

  • Every entry you log — mood, what you wrote, photos, and places
  • Your day-by-day music and reading history. This history exists only in MeDay and can't be recovered from anywhere else

What doesn't sync:

  • Health data — it stays on your device and in the Health app, not in iCloud
  • Weather, WeRead content, and reminders are fetched from the system or the relevant service; the available range depends on permissions and the history that service provides

System settings control iCloud access. Turning off iCloud access does not automatically delete data already synced.

Usage analytics and crash diagnostics

MeDay uses third-party analytics and crash diagnostics to understand feature use, retention and purchases, improve the app, and fix errors. This involves limited device and app information, a randomly generated app-installation identifier, feature interactions, usage duration, purchase outcomes, and crash diagnostics.

Entry text, photos, health data, precise location, and WeRead API keys are not sent as analytics data. We do not collect names, email addresses, or phone numbers, link analytics identifiers to your real-world identity, or use this data for personalized ads or cross-app advertising tracking.

Google LLC provides the third-party analytics and diagnostic services. Data may be processed outside your country or region. See the service’s privacy information and Google Privacy Policy for processing and retention details.

The app enables the usage analytics and crash diagnostics described above by default. Uninstalling the app does not automatically delete previously uploaded analytics records. Contact us at the email below with questions about how analytics data is handled.

Purchases and local diagnostics

Apple handles in-app purchases; MeDay does not receive payment-card details. Local diagnostic exports are separate from automatic crash diagnostics. An exported file is shared with the developer only if you choose to export and send it.

Your choices

  • iOS manages permissions for location, Health, Reminders, and Music. You can adjust them in system settings or the Health app. This does not automatically delete existing entries or cached data
  • You can delete entries you created in the app. Entries available for recovery appear in Recently Deleted
  • You can manage iCloud access in system settings. Turning access off does not automatically delete existing cloud data
  • Choose Disconnect under Settings › Data Sources › WeRead to request deletion of the locally stored key. This does not automatically delete existing reading records

Uninstalling MeDay does not automatically delete data in iCloud, Apple Health, Reminders, or Photos. Keychain keys may also remain; you can disconnect WeRead before uninstalling.

Children

MeDay isn't directed to children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect their information.
